Free Chris Wiles campaign update.

Friends and supports of Chris Wiles are devastated by the news that he has been refused parole and will remain now remain in prison until January 2010. Chris's request for parole was supported by excellent reports from his criminal justice social worker, the prison social worker and prison officers - which the parole board do not even seem to have read. Chris was previously on 2 ½ years of interim liberation pending his appeal during which time he co-operated fully with his supervisors with no blemish or transgression of any condition imposed by the sex offenders register. The problem being of course that Chris continues to maintain his innocence – if he lied and admitted to a crime he did not commit he would be free next month. Of course, if Chris had lied in the first place there would have been no corroborating evidence in his case and if would have been thrown out of court. Whoever said honesty pays?

As Chris says "It just seems totally unfair this nightmare started six years now and it's just getting worse and worse. As usual in the system their word is final and if I don't agree it's just tough. No room for an appeal or explanation just a decision by another group of people who don't know me or my alleged victim. What does someone have to do to be heard in this corrupt system they call justice?"

We now plan to step up the Free Chris Wiles campaign by lobbying our MSPs and setting up a facebook support group. Chris has 100% support of his local community and we aim to continue to publicise the injustice that has happened to him and the total inadequacy of checks and balances of the judicial system. Once found guilty in a court of law the system merely wants to rubber stamp that mistake rather than look for the truth and real justice. We will not rest until Chris is home in the community he belongs with his name cleared.
